Lake Garda, an open-air gym for sport, nature and freedom
There are places where physical activity stops being a chore and becomes an experience. Lake Garda is one of these places. Here, sport meets beauty, fatigue meets landscape and breath becomes discovery. June is the perfect month to experience this: the light turns golden, the air feels like summer, and the days seem designed to make us feel alive, active and light.
Open water swimming: the art of letting go
Sunrise over the lake is a promise fulfilled. In the early hours of the morning, the water is painted with silent, almost suspended reflections. This is the perfect time to swim in the bays that open up between Bardolino and Garda, where the water is calm and clear, and the surroundings are serene. Swimming here transcends sport; it is a way of connecting with the landscape. At sunset, the sky is reflected in the water, seeming to speak of a world that still knows how to slow down. It is a world in which we are part of the landscape, not just observers.
Gravel, MTB, road bike: endless roads to explore
Cycling around Lake Garda is like creating your own personal route. Every climb has its own story: descents through vineyards, dirt roads through villages and hairpin bends leading to viewpoints that offer a fresh perspective. There are endless possibilities: gravel for adventure-seekers, MTB for thrill-seekers looking for steep slopes and immersive trails, and road bikes for speedsters. Federica and Giovanna from the ColorHotel team are on hand to recommend bespoke itineraries. And for those who want to set off fully prepared, our Bike Room is always ready and waiting to welcome bikes and dreams on two wheels.
Two suggestions, if you feel like moving:

Running: from the lakeshore to the silence of Monte Baldo
Some people run to train, while others run to clear their heads. At Lake Garda, you can do both. The cycle paths along the shore are ideal for those who enjoy regular exercise and slowly changing landscapes. However, if you look inland, you will find paths leading to Monte Baldo with gentle curves, cool shadows and uphill stretches that open up to magnificent views. Running here is a way to achieve something. It's not about achieving something but about feeling a sense of belonging to a place and really being part of it.
What if the idea is not to run, but to climb high?
There are two perfect options for letting yourself be carried effortlessly to the top:
The Malcesine Cable Car |
The cable car from Prada |
It takes just a few minutes to reach the top. When you arrive, you almost lose your breath at the sight of Lake Garda before you, immense and shining like a breath that has become a landscape. You can only stand and watch, your eyes full of sky.
