Monteverro Vineyard Estate: Excellence and passion in Maremma
It’s so easy to be seduced by Tuscany with its wineyards stretching as far as the eye can see and the different colors that changes according to the natural season… And if you are looking to get into the wine tradition, Monteverro Estate is the place to start from!
We’ve been invited to learn more about this prestigious vinery that welcomed us warmly from the very beginning. There we had the chance to breathe in the passion of the people working there and to touch the dream come true of the Weber Family, the owners, and their International team of wine professionals.
Our unforgettable day started with the friendly welcome of Giuseppe Monaco, Brand Area Manager for Italy, and after a toast we were guided straight away into the spectacular wineyards that cover the mild hills of Maremma producing different kinds of grapes. What charmed us from the first moment, apart from the colors of the landscapes, was the story of how the firm commits as much as possibile in letting the nature be free to follow its own course through an holistic approach that respects the biodiversity and the harmony between man and nature.
Here the terrain and the microclimate are unique thanks to a constant breeze coming from the sea together with the aromatic scent of the Mediterranean scrub, the calcareus clay soils that gives the right level of minerality to the grapes (and later to the wines) and of course the long warm summers. Something curious are the rose bushes planted at the beginning of the rows: they may tell in advance if there will be any issues of late blight on the vines.
After being back to the main building we were impatient to know how Monteverro grapes would continue their journey. Of course they pass through selection, pressing and different areas of storage, which are all very modernly equipped.
World-famous wines are produced in their wine cellar: Vermentino and Chardonnay are the whites; while Verruzzo, Tinata, Terra di Monteverro, and Monteverro are the prestigious red wines. Particularly Monteverro the top of the range, has a limited production and it’s dedicated to the market of excellence.
Finally, to let the wines disclose their richness, we had the chance to taste them together with delicious dishes.
We are really thankful to Tenute Monteverro to let us peek into their world and let us appreciate even more the excellence of the Italian wines.
We invite you to discover Monteverro jewels in the wine cellar La Cantina del Gusto and in the restaurant La Veranda del Color, both inside the ColorHotel in Bardolino.
